Branded furniture is the preference of the Y generation

Turkish Furniture Industrialists Association (MOSDER) continues the research outsourced to Nielsen company. According to the results of the recent research, the consumers who prefer branded furniture across Turkey are within Y generation, who are averagely 34 years old.

Turkey Furniture Industrialists Association (MOSDER) obtains critical results by examining the results of the research outsourced to Nielsen company and the consumer preferring branded furniture in every 2 years. One of the interesting results of the recent research is that the consumers preferring branded furniture are in Y generation. The socio-economic group of the consumers, who are averagely 34 years old, are C1. The ratio of having children in the household is 40 percent, and the average age of the children is 12.

MOSDER states on all occasions that the furniture preferred by the consumer should consider the health and safety of the consumer, and should be a reliable brand that makes environmental friendly production. It is critical to be careful against the chemicals in the materials used in the furniture, for that they may be harmful to human health. For example, while purchasing furniture, the consumer should be informed on the “E1 feature” on the particleboard, “phthalate free” feature in fabric; the paints should not contain “heavy metal” and no carcinogen should be used in the glue. Emphasizing that the change of encountering such negative circumstances while purchasing branded furniture is very rare, MOSDER reminds consumers to make a thorough research before buying furniture.

According to the branded furniture consumers research, the average household income of the stated age group was TRY 2,153 in 2013, and TRY 2,528 in 2015. Although the sizes of households in this consumer profile, which includes averagely 3 people in one household, seem to have increased, it has actually decreased in terms of square meters.
