Emax Label Solutions is the joint venture of companies MultiStiQ (The Netherlands) and Chiasa (Spain) both of which are well known to the Turkish market for many years. “Our company is specialized in the production of self adhesive, heat seal, non-fray and non-adhesive label materials for many industries such as mattress, carpet, garment, tires, shoes, sample making, concrete, furniture and advertising. We serve to our customers through head quarters and factories located in Holland and Spain and the sales offices in Turkey, Germany, Bangladesh, Brasil, Mexico and HK-Shanghay,” explains chairman of Emax. “Through our long time experience in the graphic industry we have developed a strong know-how on printing and follow future developments conscientious. We develop new products in our own R&D department and in cooperation with leading partners in the industry.” “We meet the special requests of our customers. We can develop new items or revise standart materials in accordance with customer needs. Our slitting facilities are able to slit in tapes, sheets or we can supply full width. We can also supply die-cut blank labels,” the official of Emax explained. Below is an interview with Emax chairman about their company and services:

What are your activities in Turkish market?

MultiStiQ and Chiasa are the partners of Emax Label Solutions were active in Turkish market directly or through distributors for many years. Both brands are well known with label materials with strong glue and high quality printing. By establishment of Emax Label Solutions BV in 2011, Emax’s first office has started to operate in İstanbul under our sister company Permess International. In Turkey, our main focuses are mattress, tires and carpet labels. We work with label printing companies who looks for quality but at a moderate price. Our partners use offset, flexo and digital machines to print label materials.

What are the difficulties you face in Turkish mattress market and how do you cope with?

Difficulties are not special to us. We think all suppliers face with the same. These are the chronic lower price expectation and long payment terms. As our all materials produced in Europe, we face this pressure heavily against Chinese and local production. We work with printing companies and know that price pressure comes from mattress producers. On the other hand, it is clear that continuous price decrease lead to fall off in quality. In previous years, we were selling mattress labels produced with acetate satin surface. In Europe and USA market, we still sell such labels to well known mattress producers. On the other hand, label type has changed in Turkish market day by day due to price pressure. Generally, Pes satin and nylon taffeta (japon akmaz) labels are required. Import from China is in high level although not having good quality. In fact our main problem is that label printing companies know our quality, sure not having any problem but asking for at Chinese prices.Although it is too difficult, we have tried all possibilities and produced new mattress label material at a price so close to market expectation. Our partners can find our high and standard production quality in glue and printing. We advise to respectful mattress companies to ask their printing companies for high quality labels for their high quality mattresses. Label is the identification of any product and quality mattresses deserve quality labels.

Which label printing companies prefer your materials and why?

We work with appreciated printing companies active in printing of mattress labels. Our partners print labels mainly for Turkish mattress exporters or export labels directly. They would you like to be sure about quality and ensure this with our labels. Secondly, printing offices prefer us if they would you like to get produced special material for them by specifying glue type, amount or surface. They can also require revise in our standard materials according to the their needs. Our another big advantage is to supply for all printing machines. We produce almost for all printers which are offset, flexo, Thermal transfer, HP INDIGO, screenprint, letter press, inkjet (waterbased inks, UV inks, oil based inks, HP latex, Epson Sepiax etc) Xerography, phaser, dot-matrix. We are always in close cooperation with printer producers to develop most suitable product to get best print result. We work closely together with HP Indigo, Lomond (Memjet) Industrial Inkjet Ltd., HP Latex, AGFA, RISO Benelux, Xeikon, Xerox, Stork SPG, Sato, and Godex.

Which points differentiate you from your competitors?

We have high knowledge of the latest printing technologies and know how to implement these on textile surfaces. Our production facilities allow small runs (3.000m²) for special products or tailor made solutions, very low grams to very high grams of heat seal (10-200gr/m² and self adhesive (15gr/m²- 60gr/m²). We can also revise standard mate￾rials according to the needs of customers.

What are the adhesive types you coat?

We coat self-adhesive, heat seal (thermal), self adhesive + heat seal combination (for automatic labeling) and produce non-fray for sewing.

What are the minimum and maximum grams of adhesive you coat?

It changes according to the types of adhesives but in general we coat 10-200 gr/m2 for self adhesive and 25-400 gr/m2 for heat seal.

What type of surface materials you use?

We use many surface materials mainly divided into four categories such as Woven textile (natural fibers, synthetic fibers and natural/synthetic fiber blends, weaves plain, satin and twill), non-woven textile (synthetic fibers, synthetic / semi –synthetic fiber blends), films (polyethylene, polypropylene, polyurethane) and papers (coated and uncoated).

What are the abilities you have in your Holland and Spain factories?

By application of self adhesive, heat seal and water based dispersion coatings, we give multitude of specific properties to textile, ensure thermal stabilization of fabrics, make calendaring for improved surface or softer handle. We have different slitting and cutting facilities in both factories such as cutting and slitting (tapes, sheets) and die cutting (labels of roll). We also do scatter coating of heat sealable powders, powder for coating (powder dot) and paste dot coating.

What do you do for quality control?

Our company is ISO 9001 certified. Product specific tests are performed like shrinkage testing, printing trials, accelerated aging tests, measuring melting characteristics, whiteness measurement, light stability, adhesive peel testing, monitoring weight statistically, chemical uptake controlling and surface smoothness testing during all production process. Materials are also inspected during slitting and rewinding.
